Left from days past the Roman Amphitheatre of Bordeaux was incorporated into a new a neighborhood. Parts of it can be seen in the façade of some of the buildings. It's an amazing place and peaceful for a nice read.

The Long Trek, Santiago, Spain

It was 2 years since I finished my pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. I was now living in France and some friends of mine, a mother and daughter, were going to visit Spain. I asked if I could meet them in Santiago. I arrived a day early so that I could walk around this ancient and beautiful city. I went to the plaza and all the scaffolding was off the towers. Now I could see it in all its glory. Sitting there in on the plaza was a group of Pilgrims. I understood their joy.

I was walking thru the curved medieval streets of Santiago when I heard a woman call out from above and ask if "they" could play a song for her. As I turned a corner these two men began to play. I stood there and enjoyed their jamming. Took a photo and paid them my respects.

It's a big plaza and an even bigger Basilica. The challenge is to find the right composition. A red door always helps. Then these three women were walking, each in a different direction...so I waited and took the shot.

Life in a University Town, Talence, France

In France, I lived in Talence, just outside of Bordeaux. The University of Bordeaux is mostly located here. So one day during a walk in the Parc du Château Peixotto a student passed me with a headless skeleton. Guess the skull was in the pack.

For years a friend and I talked about meeting in Paris and renting a place for a few days (or more). We love to go on photo shoots together. So while I was living in Talence we did it. I had been in Paris before but on a tour, now I was there with someone who knew this city and we were far from the tourist areas. There she was, waiting for an uber. Her hair matched her coat and as I took the shot she brushed her hair from her face.

There's old homeless tombstones all over Dublin. I liked the texture of the brick wall with these old tombstones leaning against it. The two men help bring it all together.

As I was taking a shot of these doors, these ladies walked by...perfect. Oh and by the way Lyon and Vienne are great shopping towns for French clothes.

I passed him every time I went up or down these stairs. He just sat there waiting for someone to ask for a song. One night a lady came out of a house near by, it was raining and he was still sitting there. She told him to go home before he got sick. Our last night in Portugal, there he was sitting there on the stairs so I asked him for a song. He was so happy and played an old folk song that I recognized. The joy he felt while playing for someone comes to me every time I look at this photo. He played really well too.
