After a fine meal of pulpo (octopus) and 1906 beer, I decided to explore down a narrow road and before me was a valley and the two old towers of Santiago's San Francisco Church. It took me back 100's or years.

The Long Trek There

I have been to Santiago four times. Once to meet my husband as he finished his pilgrimage; the next when I arrived after walking across Northern Spain on my own pilgrimage, and then continued on to Muxía; the third was a week later when I had finally completed my pilgrimage and came back to rest and enjoy this vibrant city. Those three times the front of the cathedral was covered in scaffolding. My forth time I walked down the pilgrims road, past the bagpipe player, turned the corner and saw the magnificence of the cathedral for the first time. Only a small group of pilgrims where in the plaza...and me.

Jamming in Santiago

One never knows what they may find around the corner. A man’s gruff voice called out in Spanish, “Is it loud enough now?” A woman’s voice from a balcony above answered, “¡Sí!” And the two men began to play their music loud and clear.
